Benjamin Schoefer is an assistant professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley.

His research covers macroeconomics and labor economics. In much of his work, he uses microeconomic data and quasi-experimental variation generated by economic policies to study macroeconomic theories of wage determination and employment adjustment.

He holds B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. He is affiliated with IZA, NBER, CEPR, and CESifo. He was awarded the 2021 Sloan Research Fellowship.

Benjamin Schoefer joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2021.
