Douglas J. Krupka was an assistant research scientist at the University of Michigan's Institute for Research on Labor, Employment and the Economy (IRLEE) and an adjunct assistant professor at the Ford School of Public Policy. He was an urban and regional economist focusing on the dynamics of neighborhood change, the determinants of an area's attractiveness to firms and workers, and on residential sorting. He was an IZA Research Fellow and worked at IZA in Bonn from 2007 until 2009 as a senior research associate after spending three years at the economics department of Georgia State University in Atlanta. He received his PhD in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, where he also acquired a masters degree. His undergraduate studies (in history and music) were at the University of Virginia.

Douglas J. Krupka passed away after a brief and fierce battle with cancer in June 2010.
