Peter Brummund is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Alabama.

His research focuses on labor and development economics. His research leverages high-resolution and unique microdatasets that allow him to examine the potential of labor markets to enable people to work their way out of poverty. To date, he was worked on minimum wages, job creation, labor market frictions, occupational segregation, job quality, and other topics.

He earned his PhD in Economics from Cornell University, a MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BS from Taylor University. His research has appeared or is forthcoming in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of Human Resources, the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Demography, and the Review of Development Economics.

Peter Brummund joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in October 2018 and became a Research Fellow in December 2023.
