Mabel Andalón received her PhD in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University in 2010. She was appointed as a Research Fellow in the Economics Department at the University of Melbourne in October 2009. She is also a member of the Asian Economic Centre at the University of Melbourne. Mabel has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of health, development and labor economics. She is currently looking at the effects of unhealthy behaviors on labor outcomes, the impact of internal migration on health indicators of those left behind, and the effect of education policies on child labour and adult labour outcomes in developing countries.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2009 and became a Research Fellow in January 2013.
