Cristina Miller is a Research Economist in the Innovation Center at US Department of Agriculture Rural Development. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a M.A. in Political Science from the University of Birmingham (UK). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Marketing from Baylor University and was a Fulbright scholar in Germany at the University of Cologne. Miller’s research primarily focuses on rural and farm/ranch household well-being, including farmer mental health, suicide, chronic disease, and disability.
She is currently serving as president on the board of the Society of Government Economists in Washington, DC, as a board member of the North American Regional Science Council, and on several journal editorial boards. In addition, she serves as co-chair of several committees of the International Society of Agricultural Safety and Health.
In her spare time, you can find her working on her regenerative, small-scale, organic vegetable and flower farm.
She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2020 in her personal capacity.
