Rigissa Megalokomomou is an Associate Professor in Economics at Monash University. Her research is in applied micro-economics, focusing on policy-relevant questions in education, migration and labor economics. Rigissa often collects and uses novel administrative or self-collected data. Rigissa’s academic research has been published in leading academic journals such as the American Economic Review, American Economics Journal: Applied Economics, Economics Journal, Journal of Human Resources, European Economics Review, etc. and has been featured in The Guardian, The Conversation, The New York Times, The Washington Post, LSE EUROPP, Epoch Times, CEPR and other media outlets. Rigissa has won several early career research awards, including a Young Economist Prize by UniCredit & Universities, a Rising Star award, and the 2021 Employee Excellence Award in Early Career Research across the Faculty. Her research has been funded by Queensland Government, and Harvard Kennedy School. Before joining Monash, Rigissa was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Queensland. Rigissa holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Warwick in the UK.

Rigissa joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2016 and became an IZA Research Fellow in November 2021.
