Alex Mas is a Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University. His primary research and teaching interests are in labor economics. He served as Chief Economist at the Department of Labor in 2009-2010 and as Associate Director for Economic Policy and Chief Economist at the Office of Management and Budget in 2010-2011. He was previously a professor in both the Department of Economics and the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2011.
