Collaborations and Projects

The IDSC of IZA has joined forces with a number of institutions that share the common goal to improve data access and provide comprehensive data services to the research community. Our collaborations include:

IAB and IDSC

JoSuA, the web-based remote-processing tool developed at the IDSC, now powers the remote computing service of the Research Data Center of the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). The service allows researchers from all over the world to perform research with German micro-data hosted at the Research Data Center of the IAB.


IQB and IDSC

Researchers can work with data of the IQB through a JoSuA instance hosted in the computing center of the IDSC. The IQB data is then also hosted at the IDSC, and resident researchers of IZA can have direct access in exchange.


IAB and IDSC – Merged Dataset

The IZA/IAB Linked Evaluation Dataset 1993-2010 (LED) contains information on over 15,000 entrants into unemployment (between June 2007 and May 2008) who were interviewed for IZA over the subsequent three years and agreed to have their data matched with their individual employment biographies recorded by the IAB. Wage Indicator Foundation and IDSC

IDSC is the sole outlet of the data of Wage Indicator Foundation to the scientific community. Fees for data acquisition are waived for members of the IZA research network. The data is available through the IDSC data repository.

In addition to these own initiatives, the IDSC has also acquired funding for joint projects, including the following:

IRSDACE: Industrial Relations and Social Dialogue in the Age of Collaborative Economy

The research project on the forms of social dialogue in the age of collaborative economy covers the following areas:

  • Conceptualisation of collaborative work and its place in the labor market and employment policy and in industrial relations, 

  • Understanding the discourse on the collaborative among established industrial relations actors, processes and outcomes, 

  • Implications of the workers’ work experience in collaborative economy for industrial relations and social dialogue, 

  • Comparative analysis of national experiences and how the EU-level employment policy and industrial relations agenda responds to the rise of work in collaborative economy.

Online talent platforms, labour market intermediaries and the changing world of work

The main objective of this project is to map the existing talent platforms in order to assess their impact on the labour market and compare them with temporary work agencies in terms of their characteristics and the applicable regulatory framework.

The project will cover a range of European Countries and the EU dimension, a number of different sectors (selection guided by relevance of platform economy and temporary work agencies), and a series of case studies with more in-depth analysis.

Social Media in SME

The “Expedition Unternehmen” event series brought together business leaders from the Bonn region to discuss the opportunities and challenges of social media in small and medium-sized enterprises.
