Libertad Gonzalez received her PhD in Economics from Northwestern University in 2003. She has been based at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (Spain) since then, where she was appointed Associate professor with tenure in 2010. Her research interests are in labor economics and public economics. She has published in the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, the Journal of Human Resources, the European Economic Review, Labour Economics, etc.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2003 and became a Research Fellow in July 2005.
