Ian Li is an economist based in Perth, Western Australia. He is currently Director of Research and Policy at the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES), based at Curtin University.

Ian’s research spans several policy areas, including higher education, labour markets and health. Recent research work includes studies of higher education equity policy and outcomes in Australia, determinants of well-being in high income and low-middle income economies, health workforce issues, and economic evaluation of healthcare programs.

Ian’s research has been successfully funded through multiple nationally competitive grants, and he has published in top international journals. At present, Ian oversees the nationally competitive grants and fellowships initiatives at ACSES. He is the organiser of the annual ACSES Policy Symposium, which brings together multiple stakeholders in the Australian higher education sector to facilitate progress on Australian higher education equity and student outcomes. Ian has also consulted for the government and industry, including for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (Australia), the Australian Drug and Alcohol Office, and MediBank.

Ian joined IZA as a Research Fellow in December 2020.
