Nick is a Professor in the Economics Department and a Courtesy Professor in the Business School at Stanford. Nick is also the Co-Director of the Productivity Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute of Economic Policy Research and at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. His main research interests are on explaining differences in management practices across firms and countries; and the impact of economic uncertainty from events like the Credit Crunch. He previously worked (in London) as a tax policy advisor at HM Treasury under Gordon Brown, and as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. He is the recipient of honors including an Alfred Sloan Fellowship, a National Science Foundation Career Award, the Frisch Medal, and an Econometric Society Fellowship. He has a BA from Cambridge University, an MPhil from Oxford University, and a PhD from University College London. Nick was born and raised in London, and now lives with his family on Stanford campus.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2012.
