Andrew Seltzer received a BA in economics from Colby College (Maine) and a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. From 1994-1997 he was a Lecturer at University of Melbourne and from 1998 he has been at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he is currently Professor of Economics and Economic History. His current research interest is long-term labor market contracts. He has used historical data from British and Australian banks to examine the relationship between workers and firms and the role of contractual incentives in recruiting, retaining, and motivating workers. More recently, he has been working on experimental projects on multi-period labour contracts. He has published in journals such as American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Journal of Labor Economics, and Journal of Economic History.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2012.
