Miracle Benhura (née Ntuli) is an Associate Professor in the School of Economic and Business Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town (Cape Town, South Africa). Her dissertation investigates whether the position of African women in the South African labour market has improved over the period 1995-2004. She received her BSc Honours in Economics and her MSc in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe (Harare, Zimbabwe).

Her main research interests are in empirical labour economics, applied microeconometrics and development economics. At present, she is interested in issues around the economics of education, international labour migration, segmented labour markets, household poverty and gender inequalities in the labour market.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2007 and became a Research Fellow in January 2013.
