National Foundation for American Policy

Mark Regets is a senior analyst at the National Science Foundation's Division of Science Resources Studies. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1989. His principle area of research is immigration, but he also writes on high-skill labor markets, and on the economic status of ethnic minorities. His research articles have appeared in such journals as the American Economic Review, Demography, International Migration Review, and various publications of the American Enterprise Institute, NSF, OECD, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. At NSF, he directed the 200,000 respondent 1993 National Survey of College Graduates. While remaining involved in survey design and content issues, since 1995 he has written the Science and Engineering Labor Force chapter of NSF's Science and Engineering Indicators and has been directly involved in many other aspects of NSF's internal research on science, engineering, and technology. In addition, he has been part of NSF support of external research as the project officer for the New Immigrant Survey Pilot and the National Academy of Sciences' Panel on Information Technology Labor Markets. Regets also has been the U.S. Government representative to the OECD focus group on high skill migration, and NSF's representation to the U.S. Interagency Immigration Data Working Group.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in January 2001.
