Mareen Bastiaans is a post-doctoral researcher at the Europa Universität Viadrina, part of the Berlin School of Economics, and a guest researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin).
She is an applied labor economist with interests in labor, family and health economics. Her research focuses on the effects of public policies and shocks on labor market outcomes, as well as intergenerational spillovers.
She obtained her PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Tinbergen Institute.
Mareen Bastiaans joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2026.
