Marta C. Lopes is going to receive her PhD in 2019, from Nova School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with the thesis entitled “Essays on Job and Unemployment Protection: The Impacts on Unemployment Duration, Wages, and Fertility”.

She is now based at the Centre for Microdata Methods and Practice (CeMMAP) in London, as part of her visiting period at University College London, as a research student, since 2015. In September 2019 she will join the European University Institute as a Max Weber Postdoc Fellow, and from September 2020 she will be an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

Her main research interests are Labour Economics, Family Economics, Public Economics and Applied Econometrics.


Marta C. Lopes joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in February 2019.
