Yvonne Giesing is a PostDoc at the ifo Institute in Munich, a member of the junior faculty at LMU Munich, affiliated with CESifo and IZA as well as invited researcher at J-PAL.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from LMU Munich (2017) and previously obtained a Master in Economic Research from the University of Cambridge (2011).
Her main research interests are migration, labour economics and development economics. In particular, the causes (climate change, technological progress, political instability) and the consequences (productivity, innovation, political effects) of migration. She is also researching the integration of immigrants, in particular the labour market integration of refugees.
She has two years of work experience at the OECD, worked as a consultant for the European Parliament, the International Organisation for Migration, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank and has received funding from J-PAL, DeVal, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Joachim Herz Foundation.
Yvonne Giesing joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2023.
