Aloysius Siow is Professor of economics at the University of Toronto. Previously, he taught at Columbia University. He obtained his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1981 and his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. He was the President of the Canadian Economic Association in 2007/2008.
His research focuses on family and labor economics. Recently, he has been working on models of cognitive and non-cognitive skills, marriage matching models and intra‐household allocation models. His recent research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Canadian Journal of Economics and American Economic Review. He has presented his research at universities in North America, Europe and Asia.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2008.
