Mariana Viollaz

Mariana Viollaz is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Distributive, Labor and Social Studies (CEDLAS) of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), Argentina.

Mariana’s research is focused on labor and gender economics in Latin America and the Caribbean and developing countries more generally. Her research has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Development Studies, World Bank Research Observer, Review of Economics of the Household, Journal of Economic Inequality among others. She also works as consultant for multilateral development organizations, such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and United Nations.

Mariana holds a Ph.D. in Economics, Masters degree in Economics, and BA in Economics from Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina. She has been a postdoctoral fellow at the ILR School of Cornell University.

Mariana Viollaz joined IZA as a Research Fellow in August 2021.
