Abhiroop Mukhopadhyay is a Professor in the economics department ("Economics and Planning Unit") at the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University in 2004. His primary specialization is in Micro-Econometric methods applied to topics relating to Education, Labour and Political Economy in developing countries (especially India).

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2012.
