Christer Gerdes is a post-doc at the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI), Stockholm University, and affiliated to the Stockholm University Linnaeus Center for Integration Studies (SULCIS). He received his PhD in economics from Stockholm University in September, 2008. In 2014 he was appointed to docent (associate professor). His research is focused primarily on labor market and welfare state issues relating to ethnicity, migration and labor market evaluation, as well as chess economics. Beside his academic work he is working as analyst at the Swedish National Audit Office (Riksrevisionen).

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2010.
