Boris Augurzky studied economics at the University of Heidelberg, where he received the degree of Diplom-Volkswirt in 1997. He finished his Ph.D. studies in October 2000 at the University of Heidelberg including a research visit to the Center for Labor Economics, UC Berkeley, and received his doctorate degree for his thesis on evaluation strategies in labor economics with special application to evaluation of post-secondary education. Between April 2001 and August 2003 he was a consultant at The Boston Consulting Group in Germany and Austria with general focus on the financial services industry and special focus on risk management and Basle II. Since August 2003 he is a research coordinator and division chief of “labor markets, population and health” at the RWI Essen. His research interests include evaluation methods and health economics with a particular focus on reforming the German health system, the pharmaceutical market, the hospital sector, and the evaluation of policy measures.
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2000 and became a Research Fellow in November 2003. |
