Deputy Director of Research and Personal Advisor to the Director

too w Rinne Ulf Rinne studied economics at the University of Bonn and Lisbon. He graduated from the former as Diplom-Volkswirt in 2005. He received his doctorate (summa cum laude) for his dissertation on Post-School Human Capital Investments: Training and Lifelong Learning from the Free University of Berlin in July 2009.

His research interests are in the fields of empirical labor economics and applied microeconometrics. He is particularly interested in the evaluation of labor market policies, topics in migration and immigrants' assimilation, education and human capital investments, and discrimination. His work has been published in journals such as Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Economics Letters, Empirical Economics, International Journal of Manpower, IZA Journal of European Labor Studies, IZA Journal of Labor Policy and Journal for Labour Market Research.

After joining IZA as a Resident Research Affiliate in August 2005, Ulf Rinne became a Research Associate and Personal Advisor to the Director in January 2009. Since October 2011 he has been a Senior Research Associate; and since March 2013 he is Deputy Director of Research.
