What are Migration Networks? by Thomas Bauer, Gil S. Epstein, Ira N. Gang (September 2000) revised version published as "Measuring ethnic linkages among migrants" in: International Journal of Manpower, 2009, 30 (1+2), 56-69 Abstract: Migration networks are usually captured by the number of people from the migrant’s country in the host region. Using Mexican migration data, we analyze the effects of the usual network variable and two additional origin-village-specific variables on migrants’ location choice.
