Steffen Altmann
Senior Research Associate

Altmann Steffen Altmann received his Ph.D. from the University of Bonn in 2009. Previously, he studied Economics at the Universities of Barcelona and Mannheim where he also received his master's degree. His research interests include personnel and labor economics as well as behavioral and experimental economics. In his work, he has studied the influence of economic incentives and psychological motives on workplace behavior. Most recently, he has been working on the impact of non-binding default rules on individual behavior and economic outcomes.

Steffen joined IZA as a Resident Research Affiliate in March 2005 and became a Research Associate in 2007 and Senior Research Associate in 2010. Since October 2007, he has also served as Deputy Program Director for IZA's research area “Behavioral and Personnel Economics”.
