Kaiser Lutz C. Kaiser is currently Professor of Socio-Economics and Public Marketing at the North Rhine-Westphalia University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration, Research Professor of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW-Berlin), Research Fellow of the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA Bonn) and member of the editorial board of the journal Eurasian Economic Review.

From October to December 2009, he was a Senior Research Associate of the Research Institute for Sociology (FIS), Department of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. From September 2004 to September 2009, Lutz was an IZA Research Associate. His former professional experience was related to German and cross-European applied research and micro data projects at the Economic and Social Research Institute of the Hans-Böckler-Foundation (WSI-Düsseldorf), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW-Berlin) and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI-Dublin).

He received his Ph.D. in Social Sciences at the Ruhr-University of Bochum, where he obtained his M.A. in 1997 (Dipl.-Sozialwissenschaftler). From 1995–1996 he studied ‘Contemporary European Integration’ at Trinity College Dublin/Ireland as a stipendiary of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

His research interests include regional and communal policy, migration and integration, diversity, human and social capital, work and family life - balance, job satisfaction, social policy evaluation, applied microeconomics, and micro panel data development. His most recent publications cover, inter alia, topics like ‘Labor Market Reintegration via Workfare: A Path Towards Social Integration?‘, ‘Differential Inclusion in Germany's Conservative Welfare State: Policy Legacies and Structural Constraints’, ‘Diversity and Communal Intercultural Competences’, ‘Social Segregation and the Development of Cities’ or ‘Minimum Wages and the Working Poor’. He has published reports on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS), and the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ).
