Pastore Since 2001, Francesco Pastore has been Assistant Professor of Economics at Seconda Università di Napoli.

Previously, he was research fellow at ISAE and at the University of Naples "Federico II".
He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Sussex, the Dottorato di Ricerca in Development Economics and Policy at the University of Naples "Federico II" and the Master in Economics at Coripe (Piemonte), University of Turin.
He has acted as an advisor for ILO and UNDP and was awarded research grants by EU-TSER, CERGE-EI and EERC.

His main research interests are in the field of regional unemployment differentials, labour market dynamics, school-to-work transitions, human capital economics, and ALMP. His scientific production regards not only Italy, but also a number of countries that have experienced the transition from plan to market.

His papers have been published or are forthcoming in such international journals as Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics; Comparative Economic Studies; Eastern European Economics; Economics of Education Review; Journal of Economic Surveys, as well as in national journals (such as Economia & Lavoro; Economia Politica; Nonprofit; Studi Economici) and in edited books.

He has recently co-edited a special issue of the International Journal of Manpower on: "Vulnerability and Discrimination among Women, Children and Ethnic Minorities".

He has also co-edited a book for Physica Verlag on: "The Labour Market Impact of the EU Enlargement. A New Regional Geography of Europe?"


He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2004.
