Julián Messina graduated from the European University Institute in June 2002. He worked at the research department of the European Central Bank from 2001 to 2005. He is currently an associate professor (on leave) at the University of Girona, and works at the Office of the Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank. Current research projects include the study of the extent of wage rigidities in European countries and Latin America, and the effects of different labour market institutions on the determination of human capital investments, employment and wage dynamics. His work has been published, among others, in the Journal of Economic Perspectives, the Economic Journal, Journal of the European Economic Association, European Economic Review and Labour Economics.
He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in July 2000 and became a Research Fellow in April 2003.
