Badi H. Baltagi is Distinguished Professor of Economics at Syracuse University. He was previously Professor of Economics and holder of the George Summey, Jr. Professor Chair in Liberal Arts at Texas A&M University. He studied economics at the University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D., 1979) and statistics at Carnegie-Mellon (M.S., 1975). He is co-editor of Economics Letters, co-editor of Empirical Economics, replication editor of Journal of Applied Econometrics, and associate editor of Journal of Econometrics and Econometric Reviews.
His research interests cover a broad range of topics in econometrics, especially panel data, specification testing, simultaneous equations, seemingly unrelated regressions, technical change, airlines efficiency, cigarette and liquor consumption, rational addiction, gasoline demand in the OECD and estimation of wage curves for Germany.
He has published in numerous leading journals including Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Econometrics, Econometric Theory, International Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometric Reviews, Econometrics Journal and European Economic Review. He is the author/editor of several textbooks including a graduate textbook on panel data and another textbook on econometrics.
Badi H. Baltagi joined IZA as a Research Fellow in January 2002.
