Masanori (Nori) Hashimoto is Professor of Economics and Chairman of the Department of Economics at The Ohio State University, where he is a member of the Institute for Japanese Studies.
Professor Hashimoto's research interests include human capital analysis, economics of training, employment relations, economic demography, and Japanese labor markets. His current research includes effects of maternity leave provisions on women's labor market outcomes and job search methods and their effectiveness.
He has published articles in, among others, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Education, Journal of the Japanese and International Economy, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, and Labour Economics.
Prior to coming to Ohio State, Professor Hashimoto was on the faculties of Indiana University, University of Washington (Seattle), and Wayne State University. During 1982-83, he was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
Professor Hashimoto currently serves as co-editor of Japan Economic Review and associate editor of Journal of the Japanese and International Economies.
He was an IZA Research Fellow from November 2002 until May 2006.
