Johannes Hermle

Johannes Hermle is a Senior Economist at Amazon. Before joining Amazon, he worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at LinkedIn. In May 2020, he received a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley. Before coming to Berkeley, he received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Bonn.

Johannes’ research is in the area of applied microeconomics, in particular at the intersection of behavioral, public, and political economics. His current work focuses on the impact of gender-specific breadwinner norms on marriage selection and family outcomes.

Johannes Hermle became a Research Affiliate in October 2018 and a Research Fellow in December 2023.
