Olga Kupets

Kupets Olga Kupets is a research fellow in the department of social policy at the Analytical centre “Bureau of Economic and Social Technologies” (Kiev, Ukraine). She received her Ph.D.(Candidate of Economic Sciences Degree) from the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences. Previously, she obtained her M.A. in Economics from EERC (MA Program in Economics, Kiev) and M.A. in Mathematics from Cherkassy State University. Before May 2008, Olga worked at the Economic Education and Outreach Centre (Kiev, Ukraine) as a research associate and at the department of economics of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” as a senior lecturer. She has also been a local consultant to the World Bank and to the European Training Foundation.

Olga’s research interests include empirical labour economics, transition economics, education and social policy. In particular, in her Ph.D. thesis she studied the issues of long-term unemployment in Ukraine. Together with Prof. H. Lehmann she worked also on the determinants of firm-level and sectoral job flows in Ukraine. Research topics on which Olga is currently working include changes in the household budget allocation pattern over the period of Ukraine’s economic recovery as well as the main features of labour migration.

She was an IZA Research Affiliate from March 2004 until March 2009.
