Forschungsinteressen

Werner Eichhorst studierte Soziologie, Politikwissenschaft, Psychologie und Verwaltungswissenschaften in Tübingen und Konstanz und schloss sein Studium im 1995 mit dem Diplom ab. Von 1996 bis 1999 war er Doktorand und Post-Doc-Stipendiat am Max-Planck-Institut für Gesellschaftsforschung in Köln. Ende 1998 promovierte er an der Universität Konstanz. Danach war er bis 2004 Projektleiter bei der Bertelsmann Stiftung. Von März 2004 bis Juni 2005 war er am Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung (IAB) in Nürnberg tätig. Seit Juli 2005 ist Werner Eichhorst am IZA tätig, zunächst als Research Associate, ab Februar 2006 als Senior Research Associate und ab April 2007 als Stellvertretender Direktor Arbeitsmarktpolitik. 2014 bis 2016 war er Direktor für Arbeitsmarktpolitik Europa am IZA. Seit Januar 2017 ist er Koordinator für Arbeitsmarkt- und Sozialpolitik in Europa, seit August 2019 Teamleiter Forschung sowie seit November 2017 Honorarprof. für europäische und internationale Arbeitsmarktpolitik an der Universität Bremen und mit dem Forschungszentrum Ungleichheit und Sozialpolitik SOCIUM assoziiert.
Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind: international vergleichende Analyse von Institutionen und Entwicklung von Arbeitsmärkten; Vergleich von beschäftigungspolitischen Strategien und Reformprozessen; Zukunft der Arbeit und Wandel der Arbeitwelt; Politikberatung. Ein weiteres Tätigkeitsfeld ist die Vernetzung des IZA im europäischen und internationalen Kontext, dabei v.a. Politikberatung in Europa.
