About the Workshop |
Labor supply estimations are extensively used for various policy analyses, yet their estimations still rely on very different methods. Natural experiments provide sound identification strategies while structural models allow for predicting the effects of hypothetical reforms and are better suited for policy design analyses. Moreover, labor supply adjustments due to changes in hours (work contracts) or moves across firms is not well understood, and partly reflect in the differences of elasticities between macro and micro studies. The workshop aims at bringing together leading scholars and young researchers pursuing research on these issues. |
Confirmed key contributors to this workshop include Raj Chetty (Harvard University) and Richard Blundell (IFS and University College London). |
We particularly encourage paper submissions that address the following topics (but not limited to):
- bridging the gap between macro and micro elasticities
- structural versus reduced-form estimations of labor supply responses
- margins of adjustment in labor supply
- labor supply and optimal taxation
- labor supply and tax reforms
