About the Program

IZA and the Georgetown Center of Economic Research (GCER) of Georgetown University Economics Department are very pleased to announce the Fourth IZA@DC Young Scholar Program which will take place from September 27 – October 2, 2015 at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
The main aim of the program is to bring outstanding PhD students to Washington, DC in order to meet with leading labor economists during seminars as well as personal meetings at local universities and public institutions such as the World Bank or the Inter-American Development Bank.
The program encourages the interaction between talented PhD students and senior labor economists in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Therefore, the students will be hosted by the Georgetown University Economics Department where on each of the five days a leading labor economist will present his/her frontier research. This year the presenters will be Peter Arcidiacono, Francine Blau, Alexandre Mas, Luigi Pistaferri and Ken Wolpin. The selected students will be also given the opportunity to collectively meet with each of the speakers to discuss their own research. In addition, the students will formally present their research, and they will be given the opportunity to independently visit IZA Research Fellows located in Washington, DC for individual talks.
The program is designed for advanced PhD students from outside the US working in the field of labor economics who have either a job or research related interest in local universities or public institutions in the DC area. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 10 students.

Accommodation is provided by IZA. Travel expenses will be covered by participants. Students with limited or without funding can apply for a travel grant at IZA.
