The Department for Quantitative Social Science at the Institute of Education, University of London, offers fully funded, tax-free scholarships (around £18k p.a. for up to 4 years) for PhD study. These scholarships are funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Centre.
Applications are welcome from people with interests in either developing or applying quantitative methods in the social sciences, for example in economics, psychology, social policy, social statistics or sociology. The scholarships are open to students from any country worldwide, within or beyond the EU.

The conference aims at gathering the most recent analyses concerning the economics of growing inequalities and changing poverty within both advanced and emerging countries, with a special emphasis on their links with the process of globalization and on the relationships between inequality, skill and education.
Both theoretical and empirical works on the multiple dimensions of the dynamics of inequalities within globalized economies are welcome.
Deadline for submission of full papers: March 1st, 2012
This workshop aims to bring together a small group of researchers and will include both theoretical contributions as well as empirical papers using experimental or field data. It will take place at the Central European University in Budapest on April 27-28, 2012. Jim Andreoni, Iwan Barankay, and Roberto Weber will deliver keynote speeches. There will be no charge for participating and accommodation will be provided. There will be two “Best Papers Award” (€5,000 each) offered by UniCredit & Universities Foundation.
