The importance of linked employer-employee data (LEED) in empirical research is well-established. Nevertheless, more contributions from researchers are needed in order to improve the ways in which LEED data can be used for economic and policy analysis.
NIPE is organizing a workshop to discuss recent research based on LEED, aiming at bringing together both the providers and the users of LEED around the world and to promote the interaction within this community.
Keynote speaker: Professor David Card.
Paper submissions: nipe@eeg.uminho.pt; by June 30th 2009.
A special issue of the Journal of Economics and Statistics on the topical discussion about "Migration and Development" has been stimulated by the interdisciplinary symposium on that topic held at the Justus-Liebig University Giessen on occasion of awarding the Developing Countries Prize 2008. The laureates – Frederic Docquier (University of Louvain/World Bank), Anna Lindley (Oxford University), and Hillel Rapoport (Bar-Ilan University) – and the contributors to the symposium held on November 14th have already signalised their strong intention to submit papers to the special issue.
Developments in capital markets, namely, current account imbalances and financial integration, and labour markets rigidities have been among the most noticed difficulties some countries have been facing after adopting the Euro.
To discuss these issues, and the lessons that emerge from the analysis of the first 10 years of Economic and Monetary Union, we encourage you to participate in the conference by submitting a theoretical or applied paper that contributes to this debate.
Paper submissions should be sent to nipe@eeg.uminho.pt, until February 28th 2009.
